House parties are always fun. They are a great way of getting together and enjoying. The host of the party is always worried about menu and other arrangements but not anymore. With the advent of internet, the best of the dishes can be cooked at home without any help. In the party, the main attraction is the food. The host must plan the menu properly and host a proper 4 course dinner. If there are kids, then the menu for them can be different. It is always advisable to ask your friends about their likes and dislikes and most importantly about any food they are allergic to.
In a four course meal, the most favorite of everyone are snacks and appetizers. They go well with drinks and soups. Easy to make and yummy to taste, these appetizers are the star of the meal. The best part about cooking appetizer is that they do not involve much cooking and can be made with leftover vegetables, cheese, eggs etc. To make the best appetizers, only some recipes are needed. You can make them without any help just by mixing some vegetables and spices, garnishing it with cheese and sauces. Appetizers lay the way for a tempting meal. They can be either hot or cold. Mentioned below are some quick and easy cold appetizers.
1. Teligate Snack Tray
If you are looking for appetizers that require no cooking, then this one is the best bet. It is easy and delicious. Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard and honey in a small bowl. Now spread salami slices with the mixture. Cut the cheese into small blocks and wrap salami slices around cheese pieces. You can serve these snacks with grapes and crackers.
2. Mediterranean chips and dry Dip
Now this one is a favorite amongst all, be it kids or adults. Easy to make and can be stored for around a week, this dip is very nutritious as well. Mix drained kidney beans, some olive oil, 2 garlic cloves, some coarsely ground pepper, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, salt and fresh parsley sprigs. Now process these ingredients in the food processor until smooth.
For pita chips, cut pita bread into 8 wedges and place them on ungreased baking sheets. Now sprinkle them with oil and spices. Bake them at 400 degree Celsius for 4-6 minutes. Your cold appetizer is ready.
3. Easy tomato Salsa
This appetizer is sure to satiate your taste-buds. Tomato salsa made in restaurant style makes a good appetizer. Mix 8 chopped fresh tomatoes with garlic, cilantro leaves and jalapeno. Now blend all these in the food processor until smooth. Keep it in the fridge and serve chilled. This salsa can be combined as sauce with other dishes too.
4. Party Pinwheels
These pinwheels are great to look at and taste heavenly. To make these process jalapenos and onions in a food processor, till smooth, then add cream cheese to the mixture and process again. Use a butter knife to spread this mixture over each tortilla. Put some spinach and tomato slices on the top of this mixture.
Now roll the tortillas tightly and wrap them in foil paper. Put them in the fridge to chill for half an hour. Cut them into pieces using a sharp knife and arrange on the tray. Your pinwheels are ready to serve.
This is an all-time favorite. It can be used as a topping on breads and also as a dip with chips. To make a low- calorie Bruschetta, chop tomatoes, garlic, pepper, basil and balsamic vinegar and keep aside. Now slice the bread into half and toast it in the oven. Spread over toasted bread and sprinkle with parmesan cheese, place it under in the oven again. Your Bruschetta is ready.
6. Spicy Eggs
Eggs are an all-time favorite. They are healthy and easy to make. This recipe involves very less cooking and is very delicious. Take hard boiled eggs and cut them into half. Separate the yolk from the egg-white and keep aside. Now mash yolk with forks and add mayonnaise, salt, mustard, dill and Louisiana spicy sauce. Fill this mixture back in the egg- whites and lay them on a tray of lettuce.
7. Cheese Fiesta
When in doubt eat cheese! With this recipe you can never go wrong. The goodness of cheese can flatter all your guests and make them asking for more and more. Put blocks of cream cheese on a plate. Now mix salsa and apricot preserves and spread over cream cheese.
Now make a mixture of avocados, shredded cheddar cheese, ripe olives and cilantro. Sprinkle this mixture over cream cheese.
8. Avocado and Bacon Fingers
Finger appetizers are easy to eat and easier to make. This simple recipe is full of protein and has goodness of avocado. Remove rind from the bacon and grill it until crisp. Peel the avocados and mash it, now add lemon juice, sour cream and chilli sauce. Remove the crusts from the whole wheat bread the cut it into three pieces lengthwise. Now grill these pieces until crisp. Spread avocado on the bread fingers and sprinkle chopped bacon on top. Garnish with parsley.
9. Stuffed Baguettes
These baguettes are really a good idea for appetizers. Easy to serve and store, this appetizer is really a good choice. In a blender, process olives, lemon juice, garlic and herbs until smooth. Cut each baguette into half and hollow the bottoms. Now put olive mixture in the bottom of each baguette and garnish it with salami slices, spinach, bell peppers, artichoke and press the mixture. Put the bread tops back and wrap it tightly. Refrigerate it for three hours. Serve cold or bake them for 20-25 minutes.
10. Cheesy Olives
Olives and cheese are an all-time favorite. This appetizer goes very well with red –wine. It is fun to make and involves no cooking. In a large bowl mix shredded cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, chopped ripe olives and mayonnaise. Mix well and spread it on crackers. Now bake the crackers for 5-7 minutes and serve immediately.
